Catrina Hill is the curator of collections at the James E. Lewis Museum of Art. Prior to JELMA, she was a member of the visual art department at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture and was a member of the team that organized the inaugural exhibition. Her primary interests are African American and European art from the late 18th century to the present with particular focus on work by/about people of African descent. She has a BA art history from Wayne State University, a MA in cultural studies from the University of Leeds in England, and a MA in art history from the University of Pennsylvania. She has held curatorial positions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Peabody Essex Museum.
